Defeat of air LOT was short-sighted

I wanted to make sure that this was brought to the community’s attention. Since Nov. 6 when the 1 percent LOT tax was voted down, I have received no less than five emails advertising discounted airfare to all of the surrounding resorts. Jackson, Targhee and all Utah ski areas have broadcast advertisements through a number of different avenues to drum up early-season business and bring revenue to their resorts, shops and community. It’s truly unfortunate that we believe our town can survive without proper advertising and airfare subsidization.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results. Our strategy to improve this town has continually failed, and it’s hard to believe we can’t look beyond our city limits for solutions that every other resort community has adopted.

The answers are staring us in the face. It’s time to move forward. It’s time to take more progressive action to promoting our community and creating a new generation of visitors for Sun Valley.
