Sports summary


Cutthroat girls’ basketball will play JV schedule

Head coach Erika Connelly will guide the Community School girls’ basketball program this winter. Because of the number of participants, the team will play a junior varsity schedule only. It starts Thursday, Nov. 29 at home at the Fish Tank gym in Sun Valley against Murtaugh, at 6 p.m.

On the 11-player Cutthroat roster are seniors Taylor Figge and Ella Marks; juniors Chloe Chrysikopoulos, Jordan Fitzgerald, Tara Smith and Erin Hennessy; sophomores Caitlin Sholtis, Amy Guo and Sara Wang; and freshmen Athena Wang and Hope Perkins.

 

U-14 girls’ hockey headed to Salmon

The Sun Valley Youth Hockey U-14 girls’ hockey squad travels to Salmon Friday through Sunday, Nov. 3-Dec. 2 for the U-14 Salmon Ladies hockey tournament. Sun Valley plays Salt Lake City (Utah) Friday at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sun Valley meets Salmon at 9:30 a.m. and Missoula A (Mont.) at 2 p.m. Final Sun Valley game in the eight-team meet is Sunday at 9:30 a.m. against Idaho Falls. Other teams in the field are Missoula B, Kalispell (Mont.) and McCall.

Sun Valley’s roster features Abigail Benson, Morgan Benson, Taylor Hebert, Scout Hutchinson, Evi Johnson, Kasey Johnson, Megan Johnston, Audra Mary, Sophie Nasvik, Sydney Roberts, Abby Robideaux, Denali Stevens and Anik Zarkos. Head coach is Chris Benson. Assistant coaches are Eddie Grimes and Dale Johnson.

Sun Valley B+ Hockey League results

Sun Valley B+ Hockey League results from Sunday’s games at Sun Valley Skating Center:

Sharks (3-0-0) stayed unbeaten 6-4 over Hutch’s Bad Dogs (1-1-1). Doug Yates (4 goals) feasted for the Sharks with Chris Corwin and Rod Watson adding singles. Assists came from Jen Embree, Dan Gorham, Corwin, Watson and Tom Trieschman. Scoring two goals apiece for the Bad Dogs were Rob Prew and Chris Roberts, and Mark Elsbree added a single. Ryan Baumgardner and Brad Musbach assisted.

Aardvarks (2-1-0) doubled up Flounders (0-2-1) by a 4-2 score. Scoring for the winners were Josh Green, Will Hemmings, Clark Shafer (open net) and Meri Whitehead (2 assists). Hemmings and Dave Klemer assisted. Flounders skaters with one goal and an assist each were Terry Crawford and John Baker.

Vipers (2-1-0) kept pace 3-2 over Rockets (0-3-0). Eric Wingard (2 goals) and Biche Rudigoz did the Vipers damage, with John Ellison Jr. assisting. For the Rockets, Casey Mills Kelly (1 assist) and Greg Townley lit the red light.
