Annalou B. Thomas

    Annalou Banker Thomas, a resident of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and formerly Chatham, N.J., and for many years a summer resident of Ketchum, Idaho, died Nov. 12 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 92.
    A native of Middletown, Ohio, she was a 1941 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. At the beginning of World War II she married her college sweetheart, Richard E. Thomas, a Navy officer, and later senior vice president of First National City Bank of New York (Citibank), who died in 1981.
    A schoolteacher and ardent volunteer, she was instrumental in establishing Hospice Care on Hilton Head and was receiving care from Hospice at the time of her death. In 1995 she received Miami University’s alumni award for distinguished humanitarianism. In Ketchum, she was for many years a volunteer at the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference. She is survived by a son, Richard, and a daughter, Victoria, both of South Carolina, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A nephew, Van Gordon Sauter, lives in Ketchum and Chicago.
