Sentencing has been set for Jan. 7 for a 34-year-old Ketchum man who has pleaded guilty to his third DUI charge within a year.

Matthew Bradley Connor was charged with a felony upon his third arrest in Sun Valley last February because of two misdemeanor convictions in November 2011 on DUI arrests by Ketchum police that August.

Connor’s guilty plea to the felony charge came Monday in Blaine County 5th District Court. He remains incarcerated in the Blaine County jail on $200,000 bond.

At Monday’s court hearing, Blaine County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Matt Fredback said Connor had a blood-alcohol level of .281 when arrested by Sun Valley police the morning of Feb. 4 in the parking lot at the Elkhorn Fire Station. The legal blood-alcohol level for driving in Idaho is .08.

In the Sun Valley incident, Connor was also charged with the misdemeanor crime of driving without privileges because his driver’s license had been suspended in the two prior DUI convictions.

However, Fredback said the charge of driving without privileges will be dismissed because Connor agreed to plead guilty to the felony DUI charge.

Judge Robert Elgee advised Connor that felony DUI is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

The guilty plea averted a jury trial that was scheduled to begin Nov. 28.
