County commissioner meetings cut short

No Tuesday meeting, short Monday meeting

By KATHERINE WUTZ
Express Staff Writer

The Blaine County commissioners will not meet Tuesday, Oct. 23, and will hold only an abridged meeting on Monday, Oct. 22.

Commissioner Angenie McCleary has been asked to testify before the Legislature’s Health Care Task Force on Monday morning, meaning she will call in to the meeting remotely.

As a county commissioner vacancy has yet to be filled, Commissioner Larry Schoen will be the only commissioner physically in attendance.

The meeting will also be shortened, running only from 9-10 a.m. to allow McCleary to make her appointment with the task force.

McCleary will be speaking on the impacts of state funding cuts on county mental health services, an issue about which she has been vocal for several sessions as the Legislature cut funding to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

The meeting Monday will focus on contract renewals and the consent calendar. The county will sign a service agreement with the Carey Rural Fire Protection District that will bring Carey into the consolidated dispatch fold for another year.

The commissioners will meet Tuesday, Oct. 30, to make up for lost time, instead of forgoing the meeting as they usually do on the fifth Tuesday of each month.
