City hires 2nd interim administrator

Michael Parda to replace Virginia Egger

    A former city administrator for Jackson, Wyo., has been appointed to succeed Virginia Egger as interim executive assistant to the mayor in Sun Valley.
   Mayor Dewayne Briscoe appointed Michael Parda on Oct. 15 to serve through Jan. 11.
   “I’m very excited to be here in Sun Valley and am looking forward to working with the mayor, council and staff,” Parda said.
   Egger has served as interim executive assistant to the mayor since Feb. 8. The city hired her to act as its top administrator after its contract with former City Administrator Sharon Hammer was terminated—with no stated cause—in January. Briscoe announced Aug. 31 that Egger had been hired as town manager of Avon, Colo. Her last day of work at Sun Valley will be Nov. 9.
   A Sun Valley news release states that Parda was one of five “qualified” city administrators recruited for interviews for the three-month appointment. He is also a candidate for the currently open permanent position of city administrator, the release states.
   “I’m thrilled and I’m immersing myself in all the ins and outs and goings-on in Sun Valley,” Parda said. “It’s very interesting.”
   The news release states that Parda has “extensive experience” in the coordination of city affairs. He has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of New Hampshire, and from 1986 to 1997 he held town administrator positions in that state. Beginning in October 1997, he worked as town administrator of Jackson, Wyo., for five years.
   For the past nine years, Parda has been a co-owner and/or officer for land-use, building and alternative energy businesses, the news release states. He worked as chief operating officer of Nevada Community Solutions, a Mesquite, Nev., real estate development and leasing company, and helped found Zenith Energy, an alternative-energy consulting company in Mount Vernon, Wash.
   “In interviewing Michael and speaking to his references, the city has found, I believe, a good fit for the important job of leading the staff with me and communicating and working with City Council,” Briscoe said. “His references spoke to his ethical standards, fairness, no-nonsense leadership and insistence on high-quality work and organizational commitment.”
