Mills shares Valley Club pro victory

Ties atop RMSPGA Pro-Am

Sun Valley Golf Resort PGA pro apprentice Tate Mills shared the Professional Division victory Friday at The Valley Club Pro-Am, an event of the Snake River Chapter of the PGA Rocky Mountain Section.

In the one-day, 18-hole competition for 21 golf professionals and their teams, Mills carded a two-over-par 74 to share the first-place prize with John Graham, the golf pro at Sand Creek in Idaho Falls.

Cool weather and a frost delay didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for an autumn day of golf, according to Valley Club PGA Director of Golf Stoney Brown.

The RMSPGA competition featured individual stroke play for pros and amateurs, plus a team event using a One Gross Ball and One Net Ball format.

Valley Club professional Tommy Sanderson captured the Senior Pro title with a one-over-par 73. He won by a single stroke over Jeff Thomsen of Boise’s Indian Lakes Golf Club. Thomsen was the 2011 “Senior Player of the Year” sectional winner for the RMSPGA.

Several local Pro Sweeps teams finished in the money. The Valley Club’s Albert King shot a nifty 73 to win the Amateur Division Championship Flight first-place gross prize.
