LOT increase is a scam on taxpayers

Residents, don’t fall for the self-serving statements by those who endorse the airline subsidy LOT, stating that the residents will only pay for 20 percent of the local-option tax increase to subsidize the airlines. That just makes it sound good. In reality, each resident will pay more or less 20 times as much as each tourist for the local-option tax. It isn’t even fair for the tourists, who will be forced to pay to subsidize the airline that they fly on!

Besides that, who needs more taxes, especially such unfair taxes and such illegal taxes?

If you read the list of those who instigated and advocate the illegal LOT tax, it is obviously a redistribution of wealth from the poor to the rich, the trickle-up theory.

Some of those who endorse the illegal airline subsidy include Sun Valley Resort, the Sun Valley Board of Realtors, St. Luke’s Wood River, the Wood River Lodging Association, Power Engineers and the Wood River Economic Partnership, along with Budget Car Rental and Hertz Car Rental.

I don’t blame the businesses that endorse the subsidy, but I do fault our local governments that take our money and give it away, just as they do at the federal level! They not only give it away, but they give it away illegally! Wow! They take our money, pocket some of it and give the rest away. Then they pay for studies to see how they can get more money. As a sideline, if any money is left over, it is used legally.

If you have any morals and ethics at all, you will oppose this ridiculous tax!
