Teenager recovering following rollover

Sheriff says injury not as bad as first believed

A 16-year-old Carey girl is expected to be released soon from Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise following a single-vehicle rollover last weekend on Gannett Road.

Information on Kasey Allred’s condition was not available this week from the Saint Alphonsus public information office. However, Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey looked into the matter at the request of the Idaho Mountain Express.

“It turns out that she didn’t have a head injury that was that bad,” Ramsey said Wednesday. “It was a laceration.”

The sheriff said Allred was also treated for an injured right ankle. He said it was expected that she would be released from the hospital perhaps as early as Thursday.

Allred, who was initially believed to have suffered severe head trauma, was transported to Saint Alphonsus following the rollover early Saturday morning about a mile and half south of Gannett.

The driver of the vehicle, Samantha Carlson, 17, of Fairfield, and another passenger, Tristan Vanlaanen, 16, of Boise, were both treated and released at St. Luke’s Wood River.

Ramsey said the accident remains under investigation.
