Boogie down to nexStage for a murder mystery

    Enjoy an evening of mayhem and murder at the nexStage Theatre’s second annual Murder Mystery fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 6.
   “The Last Dance of Dr. Disco” stars seven local actors, and involves the audience in solving the convoluted intrigues of this 1970’s mystery.
   The night begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and photos in the lobby, followed by the show at 7 p.m., and buffet supper after the first act.
   Prizes for the best team of sleuths and dancing to ‘70s hits round out the night, which is nexStage’s main annual fundraising event of the year.
   Tickets are $75 each, available by calling 726-9124.
   Slip into bellbottom jeans and join the crowd at Studio 120 (the nexStage Theatre) where Dr. Disco (Jamey Reynolds) has hatched a nefarious plot to take over the world by putting subliminal messages into disco music. His nurse, Ilsa Hump (Joy Bond) is in on the scheme, but his whiny daughter Margie (Hollie Hatch) and the disco king, Tony Menudo (Cam Cooper) and his partner, Angie Portabello, (Charlotte Baker) are clueless.
   It will take a British secret agent (Nate Farrell) to foil the evil plot. It’s James Bond meets “Saturday Night Fever” with a little Austin Powers thrown in.
   Directed by nexStage’s Patsy Wygle and Keith Moore, the evening features a delicious buffet by Tom Nickel and the Sawtooth Club, a “007 mystery cocktail” served in the lobby, wine and beer at cabaret-style table seating in the auditorium and sensational music provided by Gustavo Alvarez and his Studio 120 (Juidos) discotheque and light show.

This second annual Murder Mystery fundraiser supports the nexStage Theatre’s community theatre programs and scholarships for needy children to attend performing arts camp and classes. Financial support for the nexStage Theatre comes primarily from individual donors, business sponsorships and foundation grants, including the Idaho Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment of the Arts.
