Magic Lantern Film Festival adds more

In its second week of film screenings for the annual Fall Film Festival, the Magic Lantern Cinemas will present “The Master” by Paul Thomas Anderson, hailed by cinema critics as an Oscar contender. The film is set in the post-World War II U.S. and tells the story of a Navy veteran, Freddie, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who returns from war with an uncertain future. It includes an all-star and highly acclaimed cast of actors, including Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams. In addition, the film festival will continue with “Ruby Sparks,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “Safety Not Guaranteed” “Compliance” and “Ai Wei Wei-Never Story.” The festival continues through Sept. 28, with more films including “Sleepwalk With Me.” All films and film show times are subject to change.
