Bradshaw, Williams on top at Valley Club

Club champions

It was a busy week of golf competition as The Valley Club staged its Men’s and Women’s match play club championships in addition to two days of determining Senior winners.

The golf course was in prime shape from tee to green and all three nines were used to determine club champs—Neil Bradshaw for the fourth time and Suzanne Williams for the seventh time among women.

Bradshaw and defending club champion Albert King waged a close match in Sunday’s afternoon finals with Bradshaw closing it out 3&1 on the 17th hole. In the semi-finals Bradshaw defeated Ryan Stavros 1-up on the 19th hole, and King edged Sean Terry 6&5.

Other quarterfinalists in the 21-player bracket were Kurt Funkhouser, Carmen Bradley, John Wolcott and John Baker.

Suzanne Williams bested Marilyn Celano 5&4 in the final match of the six-golfer women’s bracket. Semi-finalists were Kim Marcus and Julie Potter.

On Sept. 4-5, The Valley Club staged its Men’s Senior (ages 55-69) and Super Senior (70-and-up) club championships in a 36-hole stroke play format.

Gross stroke champions were Carmen Bradley and Bob McCollum. Net winners were Marty Albertson and Carl Harris. Senior results:
