A crisis has no boundaries

Hotline fundraiser in Hailey to boost awareness

    What’s a SOVA? It’s the first annual south valley corn-dog-eating, musical-chair-playing, prize-offering celebration of the 25-year-old Crisis Hotline.
   In contrast to the upcoming frivolity is the seriousness of the vital service the Hotline has provided through the years with its crisis lifeline for callers who are depressed, suicidal or in need of crucial resources like food, shelter, legal, medical or mental-health services or just emotional support.
   There is no cover charge for either; all calls to the line are always free and admittance to the party where vital funds will be raised to see that it stays that way has no entrance fee, but donations are always welcome.
   Organizers bill the Friday, Sept. 14, event at 6 p.m. at The Power House in Hailey as a fun-filled evening that the entire family will enjoy, with music for dancing by Kelly & Rebecca Martin followed by local favorites the Lower Broadford Boys.
   There will be competitions for adults and children with prizes like two Broncos football tickets and toys from the Toy Store.
   There will be a live and silent auction including a Sun Valley season Flex Plus ski pass, Scott Punisher skis, a ski tuning package, his and hers Marmot Puffy jackets from The Elephant’s Perch, two tickets for Reckless Kelly at the Morrison Center in Boise plus a meet and greet, Ski Tek cast and orthotics, snowmobiling package, yurt package from Sun Valley Trekking and Galena Lodge, jewelry from Christopher & Co., BCRD Nordic ski pass, concert tickets and gift certificates.
