District selects new curriculum director

Boise State assistant professor comes to Blaine County

The Blaine County School District has announced the selection of Katherine Budge as its new director of curriculum.
Budge, who had been an assistant professor at Boise State University, replaces Patricia McLean, whose resignation was accepted by the district board of trustees in August. District Communications Director Heather Crocker offered no comment on Monday when asked about McLean’s resignation, other than to say that McLean “left the district to pursue other opportunities.”
McLean served as curriculum director for two years. She was selected for the job following the resignation in 2010 of Matt Murray, who is now superintendent at the Glenns Ferry School District.
Budge’s selection as curriculum director was announced in the Sept. 7 edition of the district online publication BCSD Weekly Update. Crocker said Budge’s appointment was expected to be approved at the school board’s monthly meeting Tuesday evening.
She had served since 2006 as assistant professor in the BSU Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Foundational Studies. Budge holds a doctorate from the University of Washington in educational leadership and policy studies.
Budge also has 26 years of experience in PK-12 public schools, having served previously as a teacher, principal, curriculum director and assistant superintendent.
