Revealed: Best of the Valley 2012

Results of communitywide survey published in Sun Valley Guide this week

The public voted and the results are in. Find out who visitors to and residents of the Wood River Valley voted the best, in the fourth annual Sun Valley Guide magazine’s Best of the Valley edition.
The magazine is on the streets now and has 13 pages dedicated to the results from an online poll conducted in April. The Sun Valley Guide uses the leading survey tool on the web, SurveyMonkey, to gather the opinions of its readers on the best this valley has to offer in dining, shopping, business and services, professionals and entertainment and recreation.
Used by Fortune 100 companies, SurveyMonkey is a secure online survey tool that ensures the most accurate results—ballot stuffing is not possible.
In addition, this year the editors of Best of the Valley incorporated demographic questions, enabling readers of the results to see where the votes came from. For example, of 1,733 votes cast, 1,274 were verified as coming from residents of the Wood River Valley, 88 from within Idaho but outside the valley and 298 from out-of-state residents (73 voters chose not to answer the demographic questions).

The 2012 issue of Sun Valley Guide’s Best of the Valley is out now, featuring the results of a communitywide online poll.

What does that mean? It means that the businesses rewarded for their hard work with a Gold, Silver or Bronze Best of the Valley medal were truly recognized by their community.
For 2012, some categories were added to the poll. Now readers can learn where to get the best smoothie, which is the best charity gala and who brews the best local beer, among other new entries. Suggestions for future categories can be sent to editor@svguide.com.

In addition to the results, the Best of the Valley magazine contains feature stories focusing on some of the best things about life in the Wood River Valley. Included are the first-ever comprehensive exploration of the story behind the valley’s beloved bike path, with information on the more than two decades of struggle and legal battles that a key band of visionaries underwent to bring about one of the best things in the community.
Also, read about local photographer Todd Kaplan’s favorite drive-up summits and some of the easiest ways to capture spectacular views of the valley and surrounding areas.
Learn how Best City/County Staffer and Best Waitress, Reid and Tiffani Black, make raising a young family in Ketchum work with the help of the community, and discover the secret behind the best sandwiches in the valley.
