July contest in Twin Falls

Sun Valley 5B swimmers earned a championship trophy for scoring the most points per swimmer at the 2012 Snake River Summer Championships, hosted July 27-29 in Twin Falls by the Magic Valley Marlins.

Coach Brian Gallagher’s SV5B team joined over 300 swimmers from 17 teams for the three-day meet at the YMCA/City Pool.

Recognition was given to two graduating SV5B seniors—Elizabeth Fry who has been recruited to swim for Linfield College, and Tori Emerick, who will swim for the College of Idaho Coyotes.

Taking home academic achievement awards were SV5Bers Tayler Bates, Tori Emerick, Lena Friesen, Elizabeth Fry, Kaedi Fry, Lisa Hart, Gus Kimball, Kelsey Syms, Colby Werley and Kailey Wilt.

Among meet results:

The women’s 13-14 relay team of Loni Unser, Olivia Wentzell, Maddie Johnson and Ashley Dreyfus won first-place finishes in 200-meter medley relay and 200m freestyle relay outdistancing their closest opponents by three body-lengths.

In Women’s 15-19, SV5B’s Kaedi Fry, Elizabeth Fry, Tayler Bates and Lisa Hart took second in the 200m medley and third in 200m freestyle relay.
