News Briefs

Students to discuss India project
In July, a group of juniors from Wood River High School and the Sage School in Hailey traveled to Ladakh, India, where they worked on various projects at a school, including painting a mural and building a greenhouse.
The students will share their experiences Sunday, Aug. 26, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Community Campus in Hailey.
The Compassionate Young Leaders Program was started in fall 2011 with help from the Flourish Foundation and the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics at MIT.
Lex Shapiro, Brenden Finnerty, Colby Werley, Keah Jones, Dani Theobald, Will Ashfield and Lena Roebuck contributed 500 hours of community service through the year, culminating in a trip to Leh’s Jamyang School. The school was founded in 2008 by the Dalai Lama and works to provide education for children from the most remote and impoverished parts of Ladakh.
Chai and cookies will be served. Donations are welcome.
