Bellevue marshal to run as write-in

Clark seeking again to become Blaine County sheriff

Bellevue Marshal Larry Clark announced this week that he has filed as a write-in candidate to become Blaine County sheriff.

Clark, a Republican, ran unsuccessfully in the May 15 primary election against incumbent Sheriff Gene Ramsey, with Ramsey getting 544 votes and Clark 249.

Another candidate for the sheriff’s post in the Nov. 6 general election is Hailey police Lt. Steve England, who is also a Republican but filed as an independent.

In a news release issued Monday, Clark stated, “Don’t count me out—write me in for Blaine County sheriff. I feel Blaine County residents are ready for a change, and I want to offer the county a move in a positive direction ensuring future progress.”

Clark stated that if elected, he will improve communications among police, fire departments, probation officers and the Prosecutor’s Office, improve drug education programs with local schools, increase service to remote populations in Blaine County, improve “moral and retention” in the Sheriff’s Office and work to obtain federal grants for increased law enforcement in the county.

“Offering a fresh set of eyes for our county is vital,” Clark stated.

Clark has served as Bellevue marshal since October 2011. He has also served as an investigator with the Hailey Police Department and as a corporal with the Sun Valley Police Department. Before that, he served in the Navy for 20 years.
