Why no photo of yodeler?

When I opened Section B of the Idaho Mountain Express on Aug. 8, I was impressed with the article and color photos of the artists who performed at the Northern Rockies Folk Festival.

However, I had to look long and hard for any kind of an article on the outstanding international alpine and Western yodeler at the Bellevue Memorial Park on July 31 sponsored by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. No article, no pictures, no mention of the attendance of more than 400 people who came to enjoy from throughout the valley, as well as  Jerome, Twin Falls, Boise, Gooding, Featherville and Burley.

This performer plays Disney World, Branson, Leavenworth, Wash., and numerous repeat performances in 12 countries for a total of 200 show days a year. This was such an outstanding event that attendees said they would like to have this type of concert repeated.

Why the discrimination against Bellevue? Where was the Express photographer? Since this event was on a Tuesday night, it should have been easy to cover. Bellevue is proud of the great things happening here and we would love to share them with the entire valley. Please help us do that, Mountain Express.

Bellevue city councilman

Editor’s note: The Express does not discriminate against Bellevue. The Northern Rockies Folk Festival is one of the biggest events of the year in Hailey, one that has been entertaining big audiences each summer for 35 years. The Express did preview the yodeler event to help encourage attendance. We would have also liked to have covered the event with photos, but photographers’ time and space in the newspaper is limited.
