Riders, horses try their luck at Lucky 13

Katherine Dembergh and Lily Gillespie were among the first-place winners during the 38-class Lucky 13 Ranch/Jim Woodyard Memorial Horse Show last Saturday and Sunday at the Hailey arena.

Beginners and experienced riders and horses were welcomed, encouraged and applauded in a fun and non-threatening environment, said Lorraine Wilcox of Lucky 13 Ranch. About 52% of last weekend's show focused on hunters (judged events), 39% on jumpers (timed) and 10% on equitation.

Dembergh, on Tally, won two jumper classes and one hunter. Gillespie, on Wellington and Kate's Cade, took first places in three jumper classes.

Other local winning riders included Alexandra Murray (Bluegrass), Anna Camery (Reese), Ali Levy (Avey), Katherine Mistick (Galilea), Macy Mitchel (Temerity), McKenna Norris (Speechless), Vicky Koss (Mocha and Biffer) and Morgan Roudabush (Coppertone).

Many of last weekend's horses were owned by Wilcox.

Other local owners were Kat Dembergh, Christopher Hauge, Miren Sanchez, Alexandra Murray, Suzanne Hausner, Devon Sherrerd, Alexandra Potter, Lily Gillespie, Morgan Roudabush, Kely Mitchel, McKenna Norris, Anna Camery, Katherine Mistick, Vicky Koss, Mimi Crocker, Shannon Ittig, Mia Edsall and Haley Cooper.

Trainers included Lorraine Wilcox, Kim Koch, Teresa Englehart and Mia Edsall.
