Argument leads to felony battery charge

Bellevue marshal says altercation was over a woman

Evan Drake Fischer

A 23-year-old Twin Falls man has been charged with aggravated battery, a felony, following an altercation with another man last Thursday evening in Bellevue.

Evan Drake Fischer was formally charged with the crime at an initial court appearance Friday in Blaine County Magistrate Court. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 22. Fischer was released later that day from the Blaine County jail after posting $5,000 bond.

Bellevue Marshal Larry Clark declined to release the name of the alleged victim, but said the man, also 23, suffered "facial injuries." Idaho law provides that a felony charge can be filed in a battery case that causes "great bodily harm or disability."

Clark said the incident occurred about 11:15 p.m. last Thursday at a home at the corner of Sixth and Cedar streets in east Bellevue. Police didn't learn about the incident until notified later by St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center.

"The victim reported to St. Luke's and they called us," Clark said. He said Fischer was arrested early Friday morning at the same home where the incident occurred.

"It looks like it was over a girlfriend," Clark said. "There was an argument. The victim says the last thing he remembers is the guy coming at him and then it was a blur."
