A 21-year-old Blaine County man was arrested early Sunday morning on a felony methamphetamine charge following a report of "shots fired" in the Broadford Highlands area south of Hailey.
Koby S. Sliwicki was formally charged with the crime at an initial court appearance Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court. He was also charged with the misdemeanor crime of "resisting or obstructing officers."
Hailey attorney Christopher Simms was appointed public defender and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 21. Sliwicki was released from the Blaine County jail later Monday after posting $5,000 bond.
Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey said the incident started Sunday shortly after 1:30 a.m. when officers were sent to a Broadford Heights home on a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, deputies heard a gunshot and shortly later a woman, described as Sliwicki's girlfriend, left the home and told officers there was a wounded person inside.

Because officers were unsure of the situation, when Sliwicki came outside the home, he was "patted down" per procedure and a packet of methamphetamine was found in his pocket, Ramsey said. Sliwicki was then handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle while officers entered and searched the home.
In the meantime, Ramsey said, Sliwicki managed to roll down a window in the vehicle and crawled out. Officers found him later back inside the home. Ramsey said Sliwicki entered the home through a back door while officers were outside searching for him.
Although shots were fired, Ramsey said no one was injured and there was no indication that Sliwicki had fired at anyone.
"He and his girlfriend had been having a fight," Ramsey said.
