Mahoney's/Wicked Spud 17, Hailey Hotel/Smith Optics 14

Mahoney's/Spud (24 hits) started quickly with a 6-run first sparked by a leadoff HR by Sean Guisasola (4 hits, 2 doubles, 3 runs). Pat Ballou's grand slam homer for Hotel in the visitor second fueled an 8-run explosion that briefly gave Smith Optics a 10-6 lead. Spud equalized 10-10 as Mike Beall clouted a two-out, 3-run HR. From then on, Spud's defense clamped down and allowed only 4 runs in Hotel's final five at-bats. Meanwhile, Mahoney's surged ahead 17-13 with a 4-run fifth on extra-base hits by Tommy Thompson (3 hits, 2 runs), Lacey Ellworth (2 hits, triple), Anthony Rooney (3 hits, double), Milton Brooks (double) and Guisasola. Mahoney's: Dani Stone 2 hits and 3 runs, Tracy Peterson 3 hits (double, triple), Jimberly Rooney 2 hits. Hailey Hotel: Riley O'Grady 4 hits (double) and 3 runs, Eric Stumpner 3 hits (double, 2-run HR), Katrina Kolman 2 hits (double), Ballou (2 HR), JonMarie Shaw and Doug Story 2 hits apiece.

Power Engineers 19, Andrus Elec./Cowboy Cocina 2 (6 innings)

Power leadoff hitter Kyle Bennett (4 hits, 2 doubles, triple) homered to lead off the game, then Power added all the runs it needed with a 9-run second—sending 14 batters to the plate and drawing 7 walks. Power: Jamie Ulrich 2 hits, Jimmy Bradley 3 hits (2 doubles, 2-run HR), Jason Marenda 3-run HR. Joe Molyneux (HR) accounted for 2 of Cocina's 4 hits in the run-rule shortened game.

Cups & Bras 20, Columbia Paint/Bradley Tech 4 (5 innings)

The eventual tournament runner-up team made short work of Columbia/Bradley with a 25-hit attack in just four at-bats including an 11-run second highlighted by a Kenny Nelson HR. Cups & Bras: Nelson 4-for-4, M.J. Musselman 4 hits (double) and 2 runs, Wendy Speth 3 hits (2 doubles) and 4 runs, Morgan Uhrig 3 hits (2 doubles) and 4 runs, Bryan Burrell 3 hits, Brian Nelson 2 hits and 2 runs, Ryan Stavros double and 3-run HR. Bradley Tech: Donnie Green 2 hits.

7 Dog Ranch 15, Mahoney's/Wicked Spud 0 (6 innings)

7 Dog Ranch opened its title pursuit with a run-rule victory spearheaded by a 7-run second. Doubles by T.J. Petersen (2 hits, 2 runs) and Nelson Drewien (2 doubles, 2 runs) plus a bases-clearing HR by Sean Harrington (4-for-4) were the big blows. Harrington finished with 3 HRs for the shortened game. 7 Dog Ranch: Buddy Peterson 3 hits (double), Joe LaManna 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Greg Edwards 2 hits and 2 runs. Mahoney's (6 hits): Anthony Rooney 2 hits.

Cups & Bras 11, Power Engineers 3

Cups & Bras (17 hits) didn't have one of its best hitting games, but the winners limited Power to 8 hits and scored in five of seven at-bats. Cups & Bras: Matt Nelson 2 hits (RBI triple) and 2 runs, Leighandra Roberts 2 singles and 2 runs, Kenny Nelson 2 doubles, Wendy Speth 2 hits. Power: Jimmy Bradley triple and 2-run HR, Kyle Bennett 2 hits (double), Ben Bainbridge 2 singles.

7 Dog Ranch 17, Cups & Bras 14 (winner bracket final)

Scoring in each at-bat through the first six innings, Cups & Bras built a 14-11 lead in the sixth. But, starting with one out in the home sixth, 7 Dog Ranch scored 6 runs and made its 17-14 lead stand up. Singles by Zack Dilworth (2 hits, 2 runs) and Sharon Payne opened the rally, Greg Edwards (2 hits) delivered an RBI hit, Wendy Hosman and Sean Harrington (3 runs) singled and, with two outs, Buddy Peterson (3 hits, 3 runs) slammed the decisive 3-run HR. 7 Dog Ranch: T.J. Petersen 4 hits (2 HR, grand slam, 2 doubles), Sue Mulcahy 2 singles. Cups & Bras: Matt Nelson 4 hits (solo HR, 2-run double) and 3 runs, Kenny Nelson 3 hits (3-run HR, double) and 2 runs, Ryan Stavros 4 hits (2 triples, double) and 3 runs, Wendy Speth 2 hits, Morgan Uhrig 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Brenda Blackwell 2 hits and 2 runs, Shanell Nelson and Brian Nelson 2 hits apiece.

LOSER BRACKET GAMES

Andrus Elec./Cowboy Cocina 12, Columbia Paint/Bradley Tech 11

Trailing 8-5 in the loser-out game, Andrus/Cocina pushed across 6 runs on 7 hits in the home sixth for an 11-8 lead, only to see Columbia/Bradley tie the game 11-11 with 3 runs in the seventh. Bradley Thompson (3 hits, 2 runs) tied the game with a two-out RBI double. In the home seventh, Jeff Jones reached on an infield error and scored the winner. Andrus/Cocina: Rich Lang 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Kim Meyers 2 hits and 2 runs, Nicola Miller 2 hits, Joe Molyneux 2 hits (double), Brandon Ivie double, triple and 2 runs. Columbia/Bradley: Kerry Nilsen 3 runs, Brent Hope 3 hits (double), Josh Perron double and 2 runs, Nate Adams double.

Hailey Hotel/Smith Optics 10, Power Engineers 4

Hotel extended its 3-2 lead with a 6-run fourth and then held Power to just 5 hits in its final three at-bats. Fueling the big inning were a one-out double by Megan Balis, an RBI triple by Doug Story (2 hits, 2 runs) and two-out run scoring double by Riley O'Grady (3 hits, 2 doubles). Hotel: JonMarie Shaw 2 hits and 2 runs, Pat Ballou 2 hits. Power: Jamie Stone 2 hits, Jamie Ulrich double, Jason Marenda 2 hits (2-run HR).

Mahoney's/Wicked Spud 16, Andrus Elec./Cowboy Cocina 11

No. 6-seeded Andrus/Cocina seemed primed for an upset, building a 7-3 lead in the fifth. That's when Mahoney's/Spud came alive with 10 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks. Tracy Peterson (3 hits, 2 runs) cranked out a 2-run triple in the big inning and added a 2-run HR for some breathing room in the home sixth. Mahoney's/Spud: Sean Guisasola 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, Mike Beall 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Hannah Gove and Lacey Ellsworth 2 hits apiece, Anthony Rooney 3 hits. Andrus/Cocina: Rich Lang 3 hits (HR) and 2 runs, Jeff Martin 2 hits (HR), Joe Molyneux 3 hits, Nicola Miller 2 hits, Brandon Ivie double.

Mahoney's/Wicked Spud 10, Hailey Hotel/Smith Optics 7

Hotel jumped to an early 5-1 lead with Eric Stumpner belting a pair of 2-run HRs in his first two trips, but third-place Spud came back with 3-run rallies in the fifth and sixth and retired Hotel with three fly ball outs in the seventh. Wicked Spud: Milton Brooks 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Tammi Brooks and Anthony Rooney 2 hits each, Tracy Peterson and Sean Guisasola 2 hits apiece, Dani Stone 2 hits (double). Hotel: Brad Dredge triple and double, Brandy O'Grady 2 runs.

Cups & Bras 10, Mahoney's/Wicked Spud 7 (loser bracket final)

Cups & Bras, aiming for a championship game berth, got a fast start with 6 runs on 5 hits in the first inning. Matt Nelson (3 hits, 2 runs) ripped an RBI double and Bryan Burrell (2 hits, 2 runs) delivered the first of his 2 RBI triples. The lead grew to 9-2 in the low-scoring game, but Spud mustered one final threat with 5 runs on 6 hits for a 9-7 deficit in the home sixth. Ryan Stavros (2 hits, 3 runs) led off with a single and scored an insurance run in the seventh. Wicked Spud put two runners in scoring position in the home seventh but couldn't draw any closer. Cups & Bras: Wendy Speth 2 hits. Mahoney's/Spud: Sean Guisasola 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Lacey Ellsworth 2 hits, Tommy Thompson 2 hits (double).

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

7 Dog Ranch 18, Cups & Bras 13

Tournament MVP Buddy Peterson (4 hits, 4 runs, 7 RBI) cranked out a grand slam HR with no outs in the first for a quick 5-1 7 Dog Ranch lead. Cups & Bras came right back with 6 runs of its own in the visitor second, and a 7-5 lead, with Bryan Burrell (3 hits, 4 RBI) clouting a 3-run HR and Kenny Nelson (3 hits, 5 RBI) adding an RBI double. But it was 7 Dog Ranch's game. The champions struck for 5 runs on 6 hits in the second as Greg Edwards (3 hits, 2 runs) placed an opposite field 3-run HR down the right field line, and chipped in with 5 runs on 7 hits in the fourth for a 16-10 cushion capped by T.J. Petersen's inside-the-park grand slam HR. 7 Dog Ranch (26 hits): Sean Harrington 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, Anna Edwards 3 singles and 3 runs, Amanda Lyons 4 hits, T.J.
