Bruce Edward Nelson

Bruce Edward "Nels" Nelson, 58, was born on April 28, 1954, the fourth child (of six) to Roy and Margaret Nelson in Boise, Idaho. He passed away on Aug. 2, 2012, after suffering a heart attack.

May you rest in peace, Nels. You are forever in our hearts and we know you are in the arms of Jesus.

Bruce was educated in Boise schools and graduated from Borah High School in 1972. In his early years, he was an avid bowler in leagues with his father and brother John. He spent much of his free time pursuing hobbies such as coin collecting, science fiction, collecting comic books and learning about astronomy.

He was incredibly compassionate and always willing to help others. Although Bruce lived the life of a bachelor and had no children of his own, he entertained, cared for and loved his nieces and nephews. When they were young, he always made Christmas special for them by setting up his childhood train set.

Bruce's working years were spent in the produce industry throughout the Treasure Valley. He worked many years for Atkinsons' Markets in Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue.

He loved working for Atkinsons' and felt great loyalty to the business, which was like family to him. As he completed his tasks at work, he frequently spent his time singing and whistling away. Our gratitude is with his co-workers for their friendship toward Bruce.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Margaret Nelson. His survivors include his brothers Roy Jr. (Margaret) Nelson of Calgary, Alberta, and John Nelson of Lexington, Ky.; his sisters Janet (John) Franden of Eagle, Carol (Bob) Boyles and Nancy (Bruce) Terrell of Boise and his nieces and nephews Janss (Susan) Franden and Julie Franden of Boise, Lou and son Ryder Terrell of Boise, Emily Terrell of Bend, Ore., Kate (Felipe) Garcia and Zane of San Antonio, Tex., Tim (Kristy) and Amber Nelson of Vancouver, B.C.. Paul (SJ) and Georgia, Oakley, and Elwood Kane Nelson of Fernie, Alberta.

A graveside memorial celebration of Bruce's life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at Morris Hill Cemetery. A reception/luncheon will follow.

Thank you to the Serenity Funeral Chapel in Twin Falls for their compassion and support.
