Schernthanner was amazing person

The turnout for Alice Schernthanner's memorial was truly amazing! But then again she was a truly amazing person. I spoke of times at the Schernthanners, my home away from home when I was coming into adulthood here in the Wood River Valley.

Such fond memories of Alice and the whole family are all very special in their own unique and gifted ways. Alice was like a second mom to me and didn't think twice about who I was or what I looked like.

She cared deeply for her family and friends and all of her kids' friends. All of her sons and daughters have followed in their mom's footsteps.

When Pater and I were teenagers, Heidi gave us jobs as life guards at Bald Mountain Hot Springs! Two summers I will always cherish. Andy and Alice would always keep the door open for whoever decided to drop in. Warmhearted, giving, accepting, nonjudgmental, caring are words that come to mind.

Alice always made sure there were Lucky Charms in the pantry for us kids. There was plenty of healthy food in there as well, of course, but there was far too much of that at the Parkers' house.

I would always go for the Lucky Charms. Eating those Lucky Charms at the Schernthanners' house really was magically delicious!

Thanks for being there for me, Alice!
