Indie acoustics roots and soul power duo Benyaro is back to the valley fresh from the Tetons where they've been recording "The Cover EP," a small collection of cover songs from the likes of Sam Cooke, Etta James and Moby. They will open for Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers tonight, Aug. 1, at Whiskey Jacques' in Ketchum at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5.

The songbird Bluhm breathes new soul into classic pop-country gems and her shows are described as an homage to top-down, radio-up music on a long drive home. Her do-it-yourself playing while driving music series, "Van Sessions," is a great introduction to her music and can be found on www.nickiblum.com.

Orgone, a funk band from Los Angeles, brings the horns and a hot lead singer on Thursday, Aug. 2, to Whiskey's for $8 at 9 p.m. Orgone proved its continued evolution when the critically acclaimed "Cali Fever" was released in 2010. The album was a musical chameleon.

The hottest band out of Athens, Ga., was recently signed by REM's agent. The Futurebirds are described as psychedelic country and will play Whiskey's for $5 at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3. Local band Old Death Whisper appears on Saturday, Aug. 4, $5 at 10 p.m.

Back Alley Party continues with Stonewheat Reunion for Camp Rainbow Gold today, Aug. 1, at The Wicked Spud from 6-9:30 p.m.

Smooth Money Gesture with danceable psychedelic jam on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey. Up a Creek with the Penny Hens, there on Monday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m., brings roots rock and old-school country.

The Sofa Kings will be at Hailey Hotel from 10 pm. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.

Silver Dollar has the Bermuda Cowboys from 5-7 p.m. for a free acoustic happy hour and Old Death Whisper on Aug. 3, from 9:30 p.m. Shuttle service is available.

Stanley Street Dance features New Transit from Boise from 5-9 p.m. on Ace of Diamonds Avenue. The street is barricaded and the open container law waived. There's food, drink and kiddy care.

Town Square Tunes in Ketchum Town Square features a double bill with singer Caitlin Canty at 5:30 p.m. and instrumental Jam Nation from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Ketch'em Alive on Tuesday, Aug. 7, features The Heaters with their dance party music and bluegrass with Dewey, Pickette & Howe opening at 7 p.m. in Forest Service Park.

This was all the music known as of press time. For up-to-date information, check back in with the calendar in Friday's paper.
