Commissioners’ raise is shameful

Shame on you county commissioners for considering a 40 percent raise on top of the 25 percent raise you took right at the beginning of the Great Recession. You should've put that on your platform when you ran for office.

We plan to vote ourselves in a 50 percent raise over the next five years and raise taxes the maximum allowed by law every year but one. I could see a 50 percent raise only if you had done something extraordinary to help our economy. Our county is going to end up like Bell, Calif.

I know lots of people who would be happy to have a job, let alone be able to give themselves a 50 percent raise because some study told me so.
