32-mile triathlons staged in Boise, Rigby

Last weekend

Wood River Valley athletes participated in triathlons staged at two different locations Saturday, July 14.

At the Boise Spudman Triathlon presented by the Treasure Valley YMCA, Hailey's Susan Gundy won the Women's 55-59 age class and placed 88th of 103 finishers over 31.9 miles.

Her final time was 3.33:43 including splits of 45:06 in the Lucky Peak Reservoir 0.9-mile swim, 1.38:20 for the scenic 24.8-mile bike ride and 1.04:28 for the flat 6.2-mile run.

Dave Gundy placed fifth in Men's 30-34 at 2.37:58 with splits of 28:39, 1.18:29 and 48:10.

Male and female winners were Rick Floyd 2.05:49 for the men and Meghan Overy 2.28:01 for the women, 14th overall.

At the Rigby Lake Olympic Distance Triathlon, former Wood River High distance runner Pedro Morales won the Men's 20-29 class over 32 miles in 2.15:33 (27:42 for the 1-mile swim, 1.06:55 for the 24-mile bike, 40:56 for the 6.3-mile run).
