Bellevue man ‘critical’ after rollover crash

Carry Livingston flown by emergency helicopter to Boise hospital

Express Staff Writer

A 24-year-old Bellevue man was listed in critical condition late Monday afternoon at a Boise hospital where he was flown by emergency helicopter following a single-vehicle rollover early Friday morning on U.S. Highway 20 near Stanton Crossing.

Carry Livingston was initially transported to St. Luke's Wood River south of Ketchum and was airlifted from there to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported that Livingston suffered a head injury when he was thrown from a vehicle driven by Daniel Jerke, 24, of Kimberly.

Both Livingston and Jerke were taken to St. Luke's by Wood River Fire & Rescue ambulance following the accident shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Friday, July 6. Jerke, who suffered collarbone and right ankle injuries, was treated and released.

Sheriff Gene Ramsey reported that Jerke, driving a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup, was eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve on Highway 20 about two miles west of Timmerman Junction.

Ramsey said the vehicle crossed the highway and rolled at least once. Because Livingston was ejected from the vehicle, Ramsey said, it is assumed he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation. Ramsey said a blood sample was taken from Jerke but investigators at the crash scene had no indication that alcohol was involved.

"They were possibly asleep, or just drifted—we don't know," the sheriff said.
