Sally Shepard Belton

Sally Shepard Belton on April 16, 2012, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a brief and brave battle with cancer. She was born May 13, 1930, in Alameda, Calif., and was a graduate of UC Berkeley and a member of AOPi sorority. Sally lived in Mill Valley, Calif., for 18 years after her marriage to Herbert A. Belton, where she dedicated herself to raising her four children. She later moved with her family to Atherton.

In 1981, she and her husband retired to Sun Valley, Idaho, where she was devoted to her two Sun Valley granddaughters, Madeleine and Simone. She enjoyed working at the local shops, particularly the children's store Duck Soup. She loved entertaining, traveling and playing bridge, which she did throughout her life. In 2000, she moved back to Menlo Park, Calif. Her friends and family will remember her for her strength of spirit, her sharp wit and her impeccable taste and sense of style.

A fifth-generation Californian, she is survived by her four children, Janet Belton, Stacey B. Rutherford, Mark Belton and Logan Belton, and her five grandchildren, Madeleine, Simone, Henry, Gillian and Jack; her brother, Doug Shepard and nieces Alison Knapp and Meredith Jarigese.

Her life will be celebrated in Sun Valley, Idaho, on July 13. Donations may be made to VITAS Hospice Charitable Fund, 670 N. McCarthy Blvd. Ste. 220, Milpitas, CA 95035, www.vitascharityfund.org.
