Nearly 300 teams finish Sawtooth Relay

Sawtooth Relay director Terry Hoebelheinrich has released results of the 21st annual Sawtooth Relay staged Saturday, June 9 along 62 miles from Stanley to Ketchum.

There were 311 six-member teams registered, and 299 teams finished on a cold, wet day. Three solo athletes also finished—Alice Schenk in 12.50:40, Charles Francisco in 13.18:57 and John Weber in 17.41:48.

Overall team winner in the Men's Open category was Team Amvrica in 6.17:04.

Placing first in the Masters Women category and 20th overall was the Wood River Valley-based Ta-Ta's team of Jennifer Schwartz, Liv Jensen, EJ Harpham, Kim Morgan, Darlene Young and Kelly Kelly with a time of 8.19:18.

They clocked the fifth-fastest Masters Women time in race annals. Gravity Sports of McCall holds the record set in 2006 with a 7.56:53 finish.

Placing eighth in Men's Open and 16th overall was Idaho Ice that included Stephen Marz, James Morey, Brady Campbell, Carey High School football and track coach Lane Kirkland, Kirsys Campbell and Carson Campbell. Their time was an impressive 8.08:41.

( Coed Open: 3—The Movin' Menagerie of Ketchum 8.17:45 (18th overall). 21—Squatters of Hailey, Bellevue and Ketchum 9.09:52 (62nd overall). 45—Zac Gilstrap of Ketchum and Hailey 9.43:21 (115th overall). 73—The Squirts of Carey 10.10:53 (167th overall)—135 Coed Open teams finishing.

( Women's Open: 14—Moving Boxes of Ketchum and Hailey 9.22:16 (77th overall). 20—Team Spitfire of Ketchum and Hailey 9.44:21 (118th overall). 40—Scotties of Ketchum, Bellevue and Sawtooth City 10.42:18 (202nd overall)—67 Women's Open teams finishing.

( Masters Women: 4—Spice Queens of Ketchum, Hailey and Bellevue 10.00:18 (148th overall)—6 Masters Women teams finishing.

( Corporate: 11—Optical Delusions of Hailey and Ketchum 9.34:18 (96th overall). 13—6 Values of Hailey 9.37:03 (104th overall)—32 Corporate teams finishing.
