Skaters for Battle of the Blades are picked

Sept. 8 outdoor rink show


The Sun Valley Figure Skating Club has announced the names of nine contestants in this year's Battle of the Blades fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8 at Sun Valley Outdoor Ice Rink.

Come out and support the local celebrities and the causes they care about, the club said in a press release. The top three finishers win cash for the nonprofit of their choice. Visit www.battleoftheblades.org for details.

They are, with the charity of their choice in parentheses:

- Kaitlin Farrington, snowboard champion (Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation)

- Miles Fink-Debray, alpine ski racer and Baldy Hill Climb king (World Cup Dreams Foundation)

- Lara McLean, firefighter and animal activist (Defenders of Wildlife)

- Billy Olson, bicycle enthusiast (Wood River Bike Coalition and Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research)

- Keith Perry, restaurateur and part-time golfer (St. Luke's)

- Erin Rheinschild, Sun Valley Adaptive Sports leader (SVAS)

- Bob Rosso, Ketchum retailer and force of nature (Blaine County Recreation District and SVSEF Nordic Gold Team)

- Hannes Thum, science teacher (Community School);

- Cortney Vandenburgh, mother of two and family practitioner (Blaine Manor)
