Soccer side sweeps to Boise title

Apollo Cup winners

The Sun Valley Internationals men's recreational soccer team went 3-0-1 and won the Men's Open Division 1 championship of the Apollo Cup tournament sponsored by FC Nova soccer club Sunday in Boise.

Winners of a Division 2 title in a similar June tourney in Boise the past two years, the Internationals put in 16 goals in four games and posted two shutouts thanks to goalkeeper Hector Lopez Jr. Their game scores were 3-2, 6-0, 4-0 and 3-3.

International goal scorers were Jose Hurtado, John Campbell, Ciro Lima, Jose Almaras, William Da Silva, Edwin Rojas and Raul Rodlan.

Others were Adam Tanous, Juan Sanchez-Aguilar, Lincoln McNulty, Alex MacMillan, Robin Sarchett, Casey Finegan, Kenny Morrell, Hector Lopez Sr. and Bryan Donoso. Coach was Jerry Englert and manager Ben Stahl.

Coach Marco Hidalgo's San Lorenzo side (0-2-1) tied for third place in Men's Open Premier including a 3-3 tie with Srebrenica and a hard-fought 1-0 loss to bracket winner Jackson Hole from Wyoming.
