Top players named for GBC diamond sports

Prep All-Star baseball, softball


Great Basin Conference baseball and softball champions from Twin Falls dominated the 2012 All-Conference teams announced last week.

Hailey's Wood River High School put three players on the first teams—Austin Hafer in baseball, Sydney Tidwell and Haylee Thompson in softball. Making honorable mention from Wood River were Tim Boyle, Kori Paradis, Devan Atkinson, Brittney Bradley and Ciceley Peavey.

Here are the selections:

GBC BASEBALL

Coach of the Year—Tim Stadelmeir (Twin Falls).

Player of the Year—Casey Merritt (Twin Falls junior).

Pitcher of the Year—Andrew Frank (Minico junior).

Catcher—First team: Zach Thibault (Jerome sophomore). Second team: Garrett Basham (Canyon Ridge senior).

Pitchers—First team: Eric Harr and Zayne Slotten (Twin Falls seniors) and Garrett Basham (Canyon Ridge senior). Second team: Kaleb Price (Canyon Ridge junior), Shay Chandler (Minico junior) and Michael Garcia (Twin Falls junior).

First base—First team: Tanner Holyoak (Jerome senior). Second team: Sager Nevarez (Minico senior).

Second base—First team: Marcus Donaldson (Twin Falls senior). Second team: Connor Stubblefield (Canyon Ridge senior).

Third base—First team: Brandon Bradshaw (Canyon Ridge senior). Second team: Taylor Carson (Burley senior).

Shortstop—First team: Jackson Kunz (Burley junior). Second team: Eric Harr (Twin Falls senior).

Outfield—First team: Austin Hafer (WRHS senior), Jason Boehmer (Burley senior) and Kevin Bos (Jerome junior). Second team: Shay Chandler (Minico junior), John Hohnhorst (Twin Falls junior) and Cameron Ahrens (Jerome senior).

Designated hitter—First team: Tanner Harper (Minico freshman). Second team: Sayer Conrad (Twin Falls junior).

Utility—First team: Andrew Frank (Minico junior). Second team: Zayne Slotten (Twin Falls senior).

Pitcher of the Year—Rainey Dyreson (Twin Falls sophomore).

Catcher—First team: Cheyenne Hegsted (Minico senior). Second team: Jenna Seamons (Jerome senior).

Pitcher—First team: Colby Argyle (Jerome senior). Second team: Lauren Shotwell (Canyon Ridge senior).

Infield—First team: Sydney Tidwell (WRHS junior), Karly Hudelson (Canyon Ridge senior), Brylee Bartlett (Twin Falls senior) and Chance Hegsted (Minico senior). Second team: Morgan Harshbarger (Twin Falls sophomore), Brinley Miller (Canyon Ridge junior), Aubrie Vale (Burley junior) and Liz Tolbert (Twin Falls senior).

Outfield—First team: Haylee Thompson (WRHS senior), Megan Lounsbury (Twin Falls junior) and Makenzie Swafford (Twin Falls sophomore). Second team: Breeann Bingham (Minico junior), Alexis McClure (Jerome senior) and Courtney Ellis (Twin Falls sophomore).
