Relay for Life teams forming now

Interested in forming a team for the annual Relay for Life of Blaine County? Don't miss the planning meeting slated for Wednesday, May 30, from 6-7 p.m. at the Community Campus in the Minnie Moore Room.

The overnight event will put at least one team member on the track throughout the relay to symbolize how cancer never sleeps.

The funds raised from the event enable the American Cancer Society to support Blaine County programs and services.

Can still make cans work for art

Recycle empty aluminum and see that converted to cash to raise money for art installations around the valley.

Metal artisan/blacksmith Bob Wiederrick has shipped a few loads to Twin Falls already and just wants to keep the idea in the forefront of people's minds, especially with summer's portable meals producing post-picnic capital.

Wiederrick is a participant in the Hailey Arts Commission.

Flattened cans can be dropped off at his workspace in the Woodside Light Industrial Park at 4051 Glenbrook Drive or by calling 788-0018 to have them picked up.

See the work of Community School students

Community School's 10th- and 11th-grade advanced biology students will showcase their independent research projects to the public on Wednesday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at Iconoclast Books, 671 Sun Valley Rd. in Ketchum.

As part of the advanced biology curriculum, each student has researched and created a presentation that explores a scientific subject of his or her choice. Projects include how stress affects the physiology of our brain, the history of the search for extraterrestrial life, biotechnology, invasive species, climate change indicator species, migration adaptations and animal intelligence.

The community is invited to browse the projects and hear from each student about the work he or she has done.
