Girls and boosters make healthy living fun

Nearly 250 people enjoyed a nice weekend morning in Hailey Saturday for the ninth annual New Balance Girls on the Run 5-kilometer run/walk and Healthy Living Expo at Lawrence Heagle Park.

Aside from 180 in the run/walk, there were 60 "running buddies" for Girls on the Run along with their coaches. Top running winners:

( Men: 1—Arturo Ruiz, 31, 20:24. 2—Pedro Gonzalez-Clemente, 37, 21:03. 3—Rob Landis, 55, 23:27.

( Women: 1—Georgie Montgomery, 47, 20:29. 2—Julie Carney, 45, 21:25. 3—Darlene Young 23:14.

( Male youth: 1—Alexis Gonzalez, 15, 18:34.

( Female youth: 1—Annika Landis, 14, 23:23.

Also, Woodside Elementary School fifth-grade student Emily Lizarraya won a cruiser bike donated by Sturtevants for her "How Girls on the Run Makes Me Fearless" essay.

Two corporate teams entered, Wood River Insurance and Sun Valley Co. WRI showed spirit by dressing in yellow socks, its runners painting their bodies with the words "Bring Bowe Home," referring to American hostage Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey. Other runners and times Saturday were:
