The Sun Valley Ballet School will present its annual Spring Showcase on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19, at the nexStage Theatre in Ketchum. This show highlights the studio's 140 dancers, from 3-year-old beginners to a graduating senior, in an array of dance styles featuring lyrical, classical, hip-hop and others.

This is the first time the 3-year-olds will take to the stage and the last time the Sun Valley Ballet family will be able to enjoy the talents of graduating senior Kelly Collins as part of the company.

Collins, 18, a Sun Valley native, has danced with the ballet school since she was 12. She was featured in "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid" and "The Nutcracker." She also was a recent recipient of the Brightest Star Student Volunteer Award, presented to her by Gov. Butch Otter and first lady Lori Otter in November.

The company will once again highlight "dance dads" with a father/daughter dance.

"This is one of my favorite dances to do each year," said Artistic Director Sherry Horton. "This is a chance for the dads to see what goes on in the dance studio. Unlike soccer or in other sports that the girls in this valley are participants in, the dads don't spend a lot of time watching dance classes. I always love seeing how much fun our dads always have."

Both performances begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Chapter One Bookstore in Ketchum or the Yellow Brick Road in Hailey, $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
