Learn about food allergies

St. Luke's Center for Community Health will present a Brown Bag Health Talk called "Kids and Food Allergies" today, May 16, from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at St. Luke's Clinic, 1450 Aviation Drive in Hailey,

Dr. Gregory Wickern, a local asthma, allergy and immunology specialist, will share information about why some children have food allergies, how a child's body responds to allergens, and the latest in testing, prevention and treatment.

Food allergies are caused when the body's immune system triggers an abnormal response to a food. For some this means a mild irritation; for others, life threatening anaphylaxis.

All Brown Bag lectures are free and no pre-registration is required. Call St. Luke's Center for Community Health for information on this or other educational programs: 727-8733.
