Approve Quigley Canyon plan

I think the residents of Hailey and the valley should take another look at the Quigley Canyon project and encourage the Hailey City Council and mayor to approve this annexation. I have been attending the Quigley meetings for the last couple of years and have listened to a group of people that seem to misconstrue the facts. I know that not everyone is going to like everything about the development, but they need to get their facts straight.

My husband and I both attended the community meeting recently for the recreational plans for Quigley Canyon. We came out of that meeting so excited. We were blown away at what Quigley and the Blaine County Recreation District has planned for this area. The trails for biking, hiking and Nordic skiing are really awesome. What an asset for Hailey, as well as the whole valley.

What was unfortunate at this meeting was that none of the people whom I normally see at the city meetings and who are against Quigley were there to see what amenities this project could bring to us.

As we drove home from this meeting we were talking about how Main Street is changing. Spring is really starting to bring our city alive. The skate park was full of kids, the parking lots are full again with people dining out and the merchants have really demonstrated their efforts to make our streets and storefronts nice. All of us are working hard to survive our economy.

The council needs to plan for our future and the growth of Hailey. A city without growth will have no future. For me, Quigley looks like a great development for Hailey. Nobody wants to see a development fail, but it looks like all concerns have been addressed and careful planning has been made.

Please approve the annexation of Quigley Canyon.
