A Saturday climb of Carbonate

Thirty-seven people participated in the fourth annual Carbonate Hill Climb in Hailey on Saturday, April 26. The Advocates organized the event, with the sponsorship of Albertsons and Modern Woodmen, to support April's Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

It was a family friendly, fun community event with several hikers and dogs participating, and one babe in arms.

David Vanderpool won the men's division of the 2.5-mile round-trip event that started and finished at Hop Porter Park in 30 minutes and 35 seconds. Other men in the top three were Jose Munoz 32:38 and Jon Golden 33:04. The top woman, Alexa Turzian, finished second overall in 31:33.

Other women in the top three were Kristen Monahan 33:12 and Nicole DeYong 34:08.

The top three 12-and-under boys were Emmett Say 37:44 (2:26 improvement over last year), Landon Nurge 38:21 and Xavier Haemmerle 54:31. Ellie Gorham won 13-and-under girls in 1.10:42.

Top finishers received custom award plates with The Advovates' logo.
