Sports programs unveiled at Community School

Lacrosse, hoops, soccer

This summer, the Community School of Sun Valley is offering sports camps in basketball, lacrosse and soccer.

-The 5B Boys' Basketball Camp, for kids in grades 9-12, is a small, intense camp that focuses on developing skills needed to play basketball.

Kids learn about shooting the ball and playing defense, teamwork and competition. Connor Wade leads the camp. He is a former Community School first-team All-Conference and All-Star high school player who attended Boston College and was a varsity scrimmage player there.

Basketball camp runs from 1-4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, June 11-14 at the Fish Tank on the Community School campus. Cost is $150.

-The 5B basketball camps for elementary and middle school kids will be held July 9-12, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m.-12 noon for boys and girls in grades 3-5 ($125), and from 1-4:30 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 6-8 ($140).

Connor Wade, who has been the middle school basketball coach at Portland Jewish Academy the past two seasons, will lead the camps at the Cutthroat Fish Tank gym.

A wait list will begin after the first 15 campers sign up.

-The 5B Lacrosse Camp invites boys in grades 6-12 to learn the game of lacrosse at the Community School's Sagewillow facility. Head coach is former University of Denver lacrosse player Tim Price.

New and experienced players are welcome. Players provide their own equipment: stick, gloves, helmet, mouthpiece, elbow and shoulder pads, cleats, and must bring their own sack lunch each day.

Lacrosse camp runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 9-12. Cost is $190.

-Boys and girls aged 9-18 can participate in the Community School's one.Soccer School on the Sagewillow soccer fields, Elkhorn at Sun Valley.

Kids in this soccer clinic will work on ball mastery, speed, agility, quickness, dribbling and more. Participants will receive a full pro uniform kit, ball and backpack, plus 14 hours of professional instruction. Bring a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, indoor trainers and cleats and a hat, if needed, to protect from the sun.

Soccer camp runs from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 23-26. Cost is $195 (discounted to $115 for those attending the one.Soccer School scheduled for the previous week in Hailey).
