Got a violinist who can't move past "Flight of the Bumblebee"?

Actually any kid with a year of choir or music instruction from kindergarteners through college age has a chance to enhance their abilities in this unparalleled experience with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony Summer Music Workshops.

They are held at the Community School campus in Sun Valley, in the shadow of the Sun Valley Pavilion where the summer symphony will offer its free annual concerts.

Workshops were conceived as a program for Blaine County music students. They have grown from 35 students in their first year 15 years ago, to more than 250 students recently.

From July 30-Aug. 6, students can partake of a range of private lessons and ensemble coaching for voice, strings, woodwinds, piano, brass and percussion being offered for students at varying levels.

All classes are taught by acclaimed musicians from the Sun Valley Summer Symphony orchestra and Sun Valley Summer Symphony School of Music faculty.

Classes include Intermediate and Advanced orchestras with chamber ensembles, techniques class, sectionals and orchestral rehearsals.

Others are Beginning or Prelude Strings, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion with master classes, Voice, Piano technique, master class and theory.

Applications are available now with a deadline of April 30. Notifications of acceptance will be given by late May.

Registration fee is $90 and includes a special concert polo shirt. A $75 fee needs to be paid at registration.

Select students perform Friday on either an afternoon recital at 3 p.m. or an evening recital at 6:30 p.m. Both recitals will be held at the Sun Valley Pavilion.
