Religious expression, creative activity and outdoor recreation merge during Vacation Bible schools in the valley this summer.

Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood, St. Thomas Episcopal Church/Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church and Hailey's Calvary Bible Church all have faith-based camp options this summer.

Big Wood's "Operation Overboard"

Ketchum's Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood is challenging kids to "go deep with God" at this year's vacation bible school.

"Cokesbury's Operation Overboard: Dare to go deep with God" brings stories, music, skits, outdoor games, crafts, snacks and lots of fun to kids from 4 years old through sixth graders.

The operation begins every morning at 8:45 and goes until noon, from Monday, July 30 through Friday, Aug. 3. Cost is $15 per child or $35 per family. Afternoon care is available for an additional fee.

The week will be capped off with a family celebration Aug. 3. To register, contact Carrie Kotara at 622-0548 or email her at carriek@pcbw.org.

Teaming up for a good time

Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church and St. Thomas Episcopal Church are again co-hosting a vacation Bible school at Our Lady of the Snows in Ketchum.

This year's theme is "Sky," where pre-school through fifth graders discover "everything is possible with God."

At camp, Sky is filled with experiences kids see, hear, touch and taste. Fun science activities, gizmos, team-building games, music and treats are just a few of the ways camp leaders will help flow faith into life.

Bible school runs from 9 a.m. to noon, from July 9-13. The cost is $75 per child.

For details or to register, call 622-3432 or email mdeffe@our

Experience "Sonrise"

Hailey's Calvary Bible Church of the Wood River Valley invites kids to "Gospel Light's Sonrise National Park" vacation Bible School.

Kids aged four through sixth graders are welcome. The camp runs daily, June 25-29, from 8:45 a.m. to noon.

On Thursday of that week, student presentation will offer a display of what they learned throughout the week. A barbecue follows the presentation.
