Fern Gertrude Jones


Fern passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, in Hailey, Idaho. Fern was born in Fairfield, Ind., on April 10, 1916. She moved with her family to Hailey in 1926. She graduated from Hailey High School, went to Link's Business College in Boise and raised a huge family of seven boys.

Fern enjoyed the wild outdoors—camping, flowers, birds and wildlife, and fishing. She worked as a housekeeper then as a secretary for Neyman Chevrolet and Blaine County Hospital, then for the Sun Valley Lodge and as a housekeeper for the Sun Valley Hospital for five years, where she was head housekeeper for 15 years.

Fern retired in 1990. After retirement she spent time with all of her family.

Fern is survived by William (Bill) Jones, Robert (Lee) Jones and Jay Jones. She was preceded in death by her other sons, Hiram, Charles, Donald and Fred.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 27, at the Community Baptist Church in Hailey. Interment will follow in the Hailey Cemetery, under the care of Wood River Chapel. You may share your own thoughts and memories with the family by visiting www.woodriverchapel.com.
