XC coach Miller among Robie Creek leaders

35th annual 13.1-miler


Wood River High School girls' cross country coach Heather Miller won her age class and finished seven among all 1,140 women completing the 35th annual Race to Robie Creek 13.1-mile half marathon run near Boise in unseasonably warm spring temperatures Saturday, April 21.

Miller, 38, clocked a finishing time of 1.47:00 on a course called "the toughest half marathon in the Northwest." She won the Women's 35-39 age class. The run starts at Fort Boise Community Center and climbs Aldape Summit before descending into Robie Creek north of Boise.

Among the top Wood River Valley and Fairfield runners of the 2,461 finishing Saturday were E.J. Harpham of Bellevue, who won the Women's 55-59 age class in 2.10:14; and Fairfield's Cathy Miller, who podiumed with a third place in Women's 60-64 at 2.35:35.

Fastest men's and women's times were first-time winner Jamey Yanik, 35, of Boise by a full 33 seconds with a 1.21:34 time, and seven-time winner Cori Mooney, 38, of Boise for the women in 1.28:27 (8th overall).

Mooney is a three-time women's winner of The Elephant's Perch 16.5-mile Backcountry Run, and also the course record holder in 1.58:47 in 2003.
