Citation issued in ‘car vs. pedestrian’ collision

Ketchum man in good condition after accident

Express Staff Writer

A 69-year-old Ketchum man was listed in good condition Tuesday at St. Luke's Wood River after being injured Monday morning in a "car vs. pedestrian" accident at the intersection of Sixth Street and Washington Avenue in west Ketchum.

Peter T. Mowat, complaining of back pain, was transported to the hospital by Ketchum Fire Department ambulance. He was listed in serious condition at St. Luke's on Monday afternoon but was upgraded to good condition by Tuesday morning.

Ketchum police reported that the accident occurred around 5:45 a.m. when Mowat was crossing Washington Avenue eastbound and was struck by a red 2007 Ford Focus driven by Marla R. Brauburger, 42, of Richfield. According to a news release, Brauburger, who was westbound, was making a left turn onto Washington Avenue when the accident occurred.

"It was dark at the time of the collision and Brauburger stated she did not see Mowat because he was wearing dark clothing," the press release states.

Police reported that Brauburger was issued a citation alleging "failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk."
