Sports summary

Tanner Farrow top J1 in national super G

Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation alpine ski racers Tanner Farrow and Harlan Collins, along with independent racer Miles Fink-Debray of Sun Valley, had a good week of results and sun-baked weather conditions during the 2012 Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships March 28-April 1 at Winter Park, Colo.

Farrow, 18, won the J1 (ages 17-18) class and finished 22nd overall in Friday's national super giant slalom race won by Canada's Dustin Cook. Farrow was 2.63 seconds off Cook's top time. In other national races last week, Farrow was the 4th J1 (29th overall) in Thursday's slalom and 6th J1 (39th) in Sunday's giant slalom finale. Counting the national downhill Feb. 15 at Aspen, Colo. in which he was the 4th J1 (22nd), Farrow finished sixth or better in his age class in all four races.

Always a consistent finisher, the 18-year-old Collins made the J1 podium in 3rd place in Friday's SG, 27th of 63 finishers. Collins was the 9th J1 (39th overall) in Thursday's slalom and the 10th J1 (47th) in Sunday's GS. Fink-Debray, 24, finished 10th overall in SG and 17th overall in the giant slalom.
