Tournament Most Valuable Player Laci Watkins scored a wrap-around power-play goal for the game winner Sunday as the Ketchum Five Star Kitchen Design women won the McCall Ospreys Chix with Stix ice hockey tournament in McCall.

Five Star nipped the University of Montana Grizzlies 3-2 in the "B Division" championship game. The Ketchum team won its games by scores of 5-0, 7-1, 5-1 and 3-2 to emerge unbeaten with a 4-0 record and 20-4 goals-against over three days of play.

Over four games, Five Star out-shot its opponents by a healthy 145-81 margin. Two of the team's players, Annie O'Sullivan and Hannah Carr, flew in for the tournament from graduate school and college. Visiting guest coach from Spokane, Wash. was Nicole Altese.

Player-coach Jen Embree of Five Star said, "No matter what type of team Five Star faced, we played level-headed and with great sportsmanship. Only one penalty was assigned to us all weekend. We relied on good offensive possession and excellent neutral zone regrouping to control our games."

Friday night, Five Star dominated Yakima (Wash.) 5-0 behind the offensive line barrage of Annie O'Sullivan, Tess O'Sullivan and Dotty Hand, and Sara Schroeder-Jini Griffith-Lisa Wood. Allowing only 10 shots was the defense of Laci Watkins, Bege Reynolds, Hannah Carr and Jen Embree.

On Saturday Five Star blasted Boise Death by Hockey 7-1 with Schroeder (6 goals and 4 assists weekend) and Annie O'Sullivan (5/2) punching home two goals apiece. Schroeder added two more goals plus two assists in a 5-1 victory over the Palouse Possums.

Five Star goalie Denae Commons (77 saves on 81 shots weekend) stopped 37 of 38 Palouse shots in that game. Her standout goaltending in the later stages of the championship game held off the furious Montana Grizzlies charge.

Others in the Five Star weekend scoring column: Laci Watkins 2/1; Hannah Carr 1/4; Tess O'Sullivan 2/2; Bege Reynolds 1/1; Dotty Hand 1/1; Lisa Wood 1/1; Jini Griffith 1/0; and Jen Embree 0/1.
