Rosalyn L. Olian


Rosalyn L. Olian, née Lucas, 89, passed away Feb. 27, 2012.

She was the loving mother of Irwin A. Jr. (Claire Donnelly) Olian, Catherine H. Olian (Robert G. Anderson Jr.) and Mary E. Olian (J. Barry Livingston); cherished grandmother of Kimberly O. Anderson, Robert G. Anderson III, William H. Livingston IV and Vera A. Anderson; dear sister of Marilyn Mann; fond aunt of Pat and Jimmy (Nina) Mann, and Tom and Larry (Barbara) Kirshbaum; former wife of George Theodoridis and the late Irwin A. Olian Sr.

Mrs. Olian received her B.A. from the University of Chicago and her M.A. from Boston University, and spent much of her life as a teacher and guidance counselor at schools, including Latin School of Chicago, Stoneham High School in Massachusetts, Chicago's Columbia College and throughout the Chicago public schools system, where she changed the lives of countless students over the decades. She was a world traveler and enjoyed an active life in Sun Valley, Idaho, for a dozen years.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, North Michigan Avenue at Delaware Place, Chicago. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Rosalyn L. Olian to Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 220 S.
