Olympians got their due respect

I write to thank you for printing the letters that were written to encourage the "powers that be" to rectify the situation wherein some of our local Olympians' names were inadvertently left off the Olympic banners in the Ketchum Town Square when they were originally erected onsite.

Thanks to those letters and a lot of work and effort by the Community Development Corp. and people behind the scenes like Dale Bates, Lynn Flickinger, Dick Fosbury and many others, those names are now engraved upon the banners and we can all be proud to honor our local Olympians.

The ceremony on Feb. 20 that was designated as "Celebrate Local Olympians Day," although cold as a winter Olympics day, was terrific and provided us with an opportunity to honor this elite group of amazing people. Thank you to everyone who made it happen. Thank you, Mountain Express, for helping to make this happen.
